Whissender comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This well know, attractive, basketry willow is a lovely addition to your willow bed. Like its close basketry relatives Black Maul and Noire de Villiane it is a Triandra, but grows with a lemony-green rod rather than with a brown stem. It grows slightly thicker than the others but is commonly used as a basketry willow. It dries to a pale honey brown not to the olive green of Black Maul or Darker brown of Noire.
What is extra special about this willow are the catkins. Starting out as a flush of fat grey furry kins they develop into amazing lush yellow and red catkins really loved by our bees. Very attractive in a winter flower arrangement or as a point of interest and habitat in the spring garden.
