Viminalis x Triandra x Viminalis comes in 10"-12" cuttings. Very tall sturdy straight rods grow from this variety, making it great for windbreaks and thickets. It is apple green in colour with slight pinkish spots on the bark making it an attractive fast growing variety.
This willow does branch, particularly towards the tips, and the thin material that shoots can be useful for tying.
It has Silver catkins late winter to early spring and it is probably a very good food source for emerging bumble bees.
Its main use is for part of a short rotation coppice for fuel. It grows very vigorously and can put on rods with a diameter of 2cm in one year in the right conditions. Dried it makes great structural rods for garden projects.
