Pheasant Brown £0.00
Pheasant Brown comes in 10"-12" cuttings. As its name suggests this basketry willow is a wonderful dark russet brown. The colour is so even and shiny that it looks like milk chocolate or as if the rods have been covered in leather! Even better, the colour stays almost as good when it dries. The leaves are long and narrow with small fat silky catkins emerging with the leaves in Spring.
On our site it has taken slightly longer to establish than some but after a couple of years reached about 6' every year after coppicing. At the butt the rods are mottled and it can be a little thick for fine basketry so keep it cut back hard every year to get as many fine rods as possible. The colour makes it well worth the effort! Great for gardens planted in a group.
