Calliantha comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This is a very attractive basketry willow with sturdy straight rods, no branching and nice colours. In the spring the rods and new leaves are a bright red which darkens through the year to a dark mahogany brown. rods are green at the base. As well as being suitable for basketry Calliantha makes a nice a nice tall hedge or can be grown as an ornamental plant for its colour on its own or in small groups. On our plot this willow grows to around 6-9' in one year. It should be coppiced every year to maintain the lovely colours. It has small grey catkins along the length of the rod in Spring.
