Daphnoides "W" comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This willow has really bright red stems at the start of the year giving some wonderful colour on the plot. The rods gradually darken to a deep burgundy and offer great winter colour. Like all Daphnoides varieties these willow are quite vigorous and want to become trees so need to be managed. Coppice them annually for the best winter colour or allow to grow on as a specimin tree which will delight with catkins in the winter and early Spring. The catkins are proper "pussy willow" ones but keep the plants well pruned or you wont be able to reach them!! Older wood will bark up grey in colour and drys to a dark burgundy/black.
