Silver comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This is a very lush, vigorous willow with strong olive green rods which have a red hue in Spring, darkening and turning honey coloured in winter. Rods grow straight and tall with little branching and if coppiced they can reach over 3m (10') each year.
The leaves are large and long with their undersides covered in silvery down. In spring it is a very fresh looking willow and quite vigorous. It makes an attractive quick screen or windbreak and looks its best in Spring when it is very fresh and vibrant.
It is certainly an attractive addition to the garden, and can be use in agricultural basketry weaves.
