Pyrifolia comes in 10"-12" cuttings. A very nice ornamental willow with broad, unusually shaped leaves and lovely glossy bark. The growing tips and leaves are bright red in colour at the start of the spring which contrast well. The rods turn a warm pale chocolate brown in the winter. This is a very pretty, quick growing, vigorous willow which still looks good in the autumn. Rods are substantial, growing 6-9' in a year and quite thick. With the leaves it looks a little like a bay tree, forming an attractive hedge if left. This willow got its name because the leaves emit a balsam-like smell if they are crushed.
