Oeil Rouge comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This willow looks almost like a sculpture when the leaves fall. It has a colour ranging from pale champagne to deep honey and rods which branch at the top growing to about 6'. The buds along the stem are orange-red and black (maybe that is how it gets its name, Oeil Rouge translates as Red Eye). They look like small birds claws. This willow stem is very like White Welsh but with more red-pink blush, it is also much shorter and more branched. I like using this willow dried for floral arrangements and to hang decorations on. New growth has rose red leaf stems, strawberry buds and bright, long serrated leaves. Very pretty!
