Elegantissima comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This willow is very attractive in early Spring with smooth apple green bark, pink bud scales, and bright green new foliage with blood red tips as they emerge. As the leaves develop they become silvery grey with a pink tinge at the edges and amazing strawberry red stems on the new growth, eventually leaves darken and develop a white stripe.
The rods grow tall and sender reaching over 6' in the first year usually without any branching. The bark roughens at the base and the rods take on a rusty pinkish hue on one side with brown buds with a red cuticle. A very attractive ornamental willow with lots of lovely small pink catkins in Spring. Great for creating an attractive screen or hedge, good for wildlife and very pretty.
