Contorta comes in 10"-12" cuttings. This willow is fantastic at all times of the year both in the garden and in the house. It is ideal for floristry and interior design, the twisted stems and curly leaves look great fresh in arrangements, or dried over winter. It is also very attractive in the garden, in winter it has fantastic structure and in spring, brilliant colour. In spring the vigorous twisted new growth is glossy red contrasting with the acid green leaves. Over the summer stems become green, turning olive brown in winter. The twisted branches are still special when leaves have gone. This willow looks best pollarded each year to maximise it's colour but it will form an attractive contorted tree if left. Like all Matsudana's "Contorta" will grow into a large tree if not cut back, so don't plant near buildings!
