The fine even rods make this willow a bit special. Similar in appearance to Bori Pescara, Cohu blue has a blue to purple rod with tiny bright red buds and long narrow leaves which becomes pink over winter. Rods are fine, straight and unbranched to 6’ in a year. They are grey at the butt with a burgundy tip. It has grown taller than most Purpurea and the rod is less striped and a more even colour than others with a red blush on one side.
It carries small catkins. looks good for basketry as well as a great ornamental willow. Fantastic colour for fresh weaving and garden. Dries steely grey.
